Giving Back: Dr. Bouchard Joins Board to Support Cancer Patients

Oct 7, 2023

Here at Smiles With Care Dentistry, our commitment to patient well-being extends far beyond our practice walls and deep into the community. That is why we are incredibly proud to announce that Dr. Nancy Bouchard has been appointed to the governing board of Partners in Care, a not-for-profit charitable foundation dedicated to supporting cancer patients on their journey to recovery.

Dr. Bouchard, the owner of Smiles With Care Dentistry, has a long history of community service, including her time as president of the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation and as an advisory board member for the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce. Her passion for patient care is rooted in her comprehensive background, which started as a dental hygienist before she became a dentist. She has shared her expertise by teaching radiology at Hodges University’s dental hygiene program and lecturing across the country about the specialized care required for patients with head and neck cancer.

This new role is a perfect match for her dedication. “Both Dr. Bouchard and Deborah [Culverhouse, another new board member] are long-time Partners in Care supporters whose passion, commitment and selflessness are second to none,” said Kathy Tolentino, director of the Florida-based national nonprofit. “We are incredibly fortunate to tap them for these roles as we continue to make the cancer journey more manageable for as many patients as possible.”

About Partners in Care

Founded over 25 years ago, Partners in Care provides a crucial support system for cancer patients across 18 states. The foundation’s goal is to allow patients to focus their energy on beating the disease, not on their finances. They help cover many incidental-yet-significant expenses that insurance often doesn’t, such as:

  • Gas or transportation to treatment
  • Lodging and food during treatment
  • Medical supplies or equipment
  • Childcare
  • Respite care

Since 2007, the foundation has supported over 8,000 patients and provided more than $1 million in financial assistance. They also fund cancer screenings and support groups to provide comprehensive aid.
